The Black Health Lit® Mission...
To ignite a movement towards better health for Black Americans through transformative health literacy programming.
Our Vision
A world where Black Americans achieve optimal health through elevated health literacy and equitable access to comprehensive healthcare.
Our Why
Health disparities have long impacted Black communities, resulting in a significant gap in health outcomes.
In fact, Blacks are disproportionately affected by limited health literacy, with 24% having below basic health literacy compared to 9% of non-Hispanic whites.
Furthermore, Ohio could add $79 billion annually to its economy by eliminating racial disparities.
We believe that addressing these issues requires a multifaceted approach that combines education, advocacy, and community engagement. By focusing on health literacy, we aim to bridge this gap and foster a future where every Black person can thrive in good health.
